DIR is partnered with Mathematica Policy Research to conduct the School Nutrition and Meal Cost Study-II (SNMCS-II) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. SNMCS-II is a national study of program operations, the nutritional quality of school meals, school meal cost and revenue, plate waste and students’ dietary intake. Currently, DIR staff are recruiting 100 SFAs and approximately 300 schools for the meal cost component of this national study. Recruiters will provide information to determine eligibility, obtain statutorily mandated participation, conduct planning interviews with SFA directors, and coordinate data collection activities among SFAs and their respective schools. DIR will also conduct on-site data collection in spring 2020 at 300 schools using a team of 15-20 field staff.
