Noted research specialist Heather Morrison joins DIR as director of data collection and management
Decision Information Resources, Inc. (DIR) welcomes Heather Morrison as its new director of data collection and management. Morrison has distinguished herself with more than 16 years’ experience in public health and social science research—most recently with the nonpartisan and objective research organization (NORC) at the University of Chicago, a top global research institution, whose clients include government agencies, education institutions, foundations, and corporations.
“We are very pleased to have Heather join our top team, with her leadership experience in large-scale surveys at one of the top social research firms in the world,” said DIR president & CEO, Dr. Russell H. Jackson. “I am confident that she will help DIR continue to grow and diversify our portfolio of work.”
Morrison is a well-respected researcher, a dedicated program and project manager, a proven communicator across a broad range of audiences, and an expert in the implementation of research and survey methods. Morrison will be a member of DIR’s senior executive management team and will work closely with other team members to execute projects, manage company performance, develop new business, and serve as a liaison to external clients and vendors.
Morrison expressed high expectations about applying her capabilities in her new role: “I am delighted to have joined the DIR team, and I look forward to supporting DIR’s mission of providing the highest quality research to support our clients with making informed decisions.”
Before working at NORC, Morrison served as project director for the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Spanish Cognitive Interviewing Health Study. The health study was designed to evaluate two versions of the sexual identity question of the Spanish-language National Health Interview Survey for possible inclusion in federal surveys. Morrison provided oversight to a team of multilingual researchers and methodologists.
Morrison earned her A.B.D. and M.A. degrees in philosophy from Washington University. She graduated cum laude from Albion College with a B.A. degree in philosophy and was an Albion Fellow.
We look forward to Morrison’s contributions as she settles into her role here at DIR.
